Third times a charm! At least it was in this case. I first tried reading this book two years ago because, there was so much hype surrounding it, the movie was about to come out and everyone was so excited. I put it down about half way through because, I really wasn't into it. Then last year in 2015 I again tried to pick it up. That time I got about 100 pages in before I got absorbed in school work. Now in March 2016 I finally decided to give it a go one last time. Thank goodness I did! I loved it. I don't know what changed, perhaps the excitement of the television series? Whatever it was I am thankful for it. So now, onto my thoughts....
Characters (Just a few):
- Clary Fray- {Insert sassy emoji} Clary is our lovely little spunky red headed main character. She lives an average life like the rest of us... until she discovers she's part of the shadow hunter world! OK, so when I tried reading this book previously I just couldn't connect with Clary's character. However, now I love her! It did take me a while to get to know her but it was worth the wait. She's very quirky and introverted (which is something I can relate to) and she is truly mesmerized by this world like the rest of us.
- Jace Wayland- {Insert googly heart eyes}. Where do I begin with this beauty? Dark, smoldering, mysterious with just a hint of sarcasm (okay maybe a lot of sarcasm). What else do you need to love him.
- Simon- {Insert Nerd Alert}- Ahhhh.... Simon.... I have a lot of mixed feelings for him. I enjoy his character and his comedic genius one liners ("Also, Im cross dressing and sleeping with your mom"). But, at points I found him a little annoying. He is adorable but it was frustrating to see
Now the thing about this novel is that it is slow starting. It took about a 100 pages for me to fully get into it. However, once you push past that it picks up and you don't want to put it down. There is a lot of information in the book and you have to be paying to close attention to all the terminology. I had to read back again on some paragraphs because, there was just so much information to know that are very important for future references.
